Ram Gopal Varma, known for his bold (and often bizarre) opinions, seems to be completely consumed by Lawrence Bishnoi’s relentless obsession with Salman Khan. The maverick filmmaker has once again taken to his X (formerly Twitter) handle, firing off a series of thoughts on Bishnoi’s strange, decades-old grudge. Varma’s fascination with the gangster’s quest for revenge has turned into a monologue that’s part philosophical, part absurd, and entirely vintage RGV.

In his latest post, Varma brought up the unbelievable nature of Bishnoi’s vendetta, writing, “LAWRENCE BISHNOI was just a 5 YEAR OLD KID when the deer was killed in 1998, and Bishnoi maintained his grudge for 25 years. Now, at age 30, he says that his LIFE’S GOAL is to kill SALMAN to take REVENGE for KILLING that DEER. Is this ANIMAL love at its PEAK or GOD playing a WEIRD JOKE?” Only RGV could turn a gangster’s murder mission into an existential debate about animal love versus divine comedy.

Varma didn’t stop there. He took the drama up a notch, likening the whole scenario to a badly scripted Bollywood film. “A LAWYER turned GANGSTER wants to take REVENGE for a DEER’S death by killing a SUPERSTAR,” Varma mused. “As a WARNING, he orders some of his 700-strong GANG, recruited through Facebook, to first take out a BIG POLITICIAN, a close friend of the STAR.” If this isn’t an over-the-top movie pitch waiting to happen, then what is? Varma sarcastically added that if any Bollywood writer dared to present such a plot, they’d be ridiculed for coming up with something “unbelievable and ridiculous.”

But in real life, this plotline is very much alive—and deadly. Bishnoi’s obsession with Salman dates back to 1998, when a blackbuck was killed during the filming of Hum Saath-Saath Hain. Bishnoi, who was just five years old at the time, seems to have held onto that grievance for over two decades, carrying it with him from his childhood all the way to his life as a feared gangster. Fast forward to 2023, and the 31-year-old Bishnoi continues to threaten Salman’s life from behind bars, gaining infamy for allegedly orchestrating high-profile killings despite being in prison.

Recently, the brutal assassination of NCP leader Baba Siddique—someone close to Salman Khan—has been linked to Bishnoi’s gang. Siddique was gunned down in Mumbai last week, and authorities suspect Bishnoi’s involvement after a chilling Facebook post surfaced: “Jo Salman Khan aur Dawood gang ki help karega apna hisab-kitab laga ke rakhna” (Whoever helps Salman Khan and the Dawood Ibrahim gang, keep your accounts in order). The message, posted by Shubhu Lonkar, believed to be an aide of Bishnoi, sent ripples through Bollywood and political circles alike.

Bishnoi’s notoriety has only grown over the years. Despite being imprisoned, the gangster allegedly orchestrated the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala in 2022 and the 2023 killing of Karni Sena chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi. He’s also been linked to shootings outside the homes of singers AP Dhillon and Gippy Grewal in Canada.

The tension between Bishnoi and Salman Khan first made headlines in 2018 when Bishnoi, during a court appearance in Jodhpur, boldly declared, “We will kill Salman Khan. Everyone will know once we take action.” Since then, Salman has remained on high alert, with the police bolstering his security. But Bishnoi’s threats haven’t waned, and his long-running vendetta is turning into the kind of dark, twisted narrative that even Ram Gopal Varma couldn’t have scripted better.

As Varma continues to tweet his bewilderment over this saga, the real question is—will Salman Khan ever get a break from this real-life Bollywood thriller? Or will Lawrence Bishnoi’s bizarre quest for “justice” reach its tragic conclusion? Only time, and perhaps a few more RGV Twitter rants, will tell.
