An ardent proponent of the rental lifestyle, Zerodha’s billionaire boss Nikhil Kamath recently revealed how he finally purchased a house, drawing flak online. Meanwhile, Rahul Gonsalves, the head of design at PhonePe, posted the interiors and decor of Kamath’s previous rental residence in Bengaluru. Taking a jibe at the fintechpreneur’s abode, Gonsalves remarked that he could have definitely afforded “far better interior designers and architects.”
In all of this Nikhil Kamath house debate – what is being lost sight of is the absolute travesty that are its interiors.
Ser. You can afford far better interior designers/architects.

Reacting to Gonsalves post, netizens shared their opinions, mostly dissing Nikhil Kamath’s choice of interior decor. One user wrote, “Itna itna bekar sa hi design karna tha to kya fayda hua?” “Love maximalism, but living here will get me migraines,” quipped another user online. One user remarked that “ Pinterest could find you a better choice.” Yet another netizen commented, “One half Pinterest moodboard and other WeWork Office.” A handful of users slammed the critics, saying, “Par usko ye pasand hoga na ye uska ghar hai!” Another took a dig: “People who can’t afford this house are giving gyan.”

Yes, the choice of wallpapers & furniture is absolutely 3rd class. 5 min of search on Pinterest could find you better options.— Sunderdeep – Volklub (@volklub) October 24, 2024
one half looks like a Pinterest moodboard and the other half straight outta wework office— Darpan (@darpanthisside) October 23, 2024

Funny how those who can’t even afford this house are giving gyaan on its interiors. Maybe focus on your own life instead.— Piyush Upadhyay (@piyushstwts) October 24, 2024
The billionaire did not care to respond to the personal choices he has made for his own living, and why would he? Perception of design is anyway subjective. Eyesores for one could be starlets in someone else’s pupils. So everyone should just calm down and STFU, minding own business!
