Earlier this week in a piece of devastating news, Liam Payne, the English singer and former One Direction member passed away at the age of 31. New reports about his death and career are now making rounds on the internet. Daily Mail recently revealed that the singer was dropped by his Record Label just days before his sudden death. According to police reports, the singer died on the spot due to multiple injuries after he fell from the third-floor balcony of his hotel room in Argentina.
DailyMail also reported on the fallout with the music label and quoted a source saying, “Liam’s advance was massive and he didn’t recoup [it].” Liam was signed by Sony during One Direction and eventually signed a deal with Universal Music’s subsidiary Capitol Records in July 2016. His first solo album Strip That Down with rapper Quavo was released in 2017 but his second album was set to dropped by Universal Music Group due to a massive label restructuring in February 2024. However, according to an insider second album had been scratched.
Liam also had some legal trouble recently. His PR resigned not long after the singer’s ex-fiancee Maya Henry filed a case against him for allegedly repeatedly contacting her despite their separation two years ago. Meanwhile, The Sun revealed that Liam’s former manager, Roger, “stepped back earlier this year.” and the singer appeared to “be struggling without” his manager’s guidance.

Earlier this month, The Sun UK also reported that Liam only had one album, his 2019 ‘LP1’ under his name and his highly anticipated second album was put on hold after his recent release Teardrops failed to appear on music charts. Meanwhile, a documentary about Payne’s struggle with pushed into the spotlight during his formative years was shelved just weeks before the album update.
The insider told Daily Mail that the British singer was “on the wrong path musically” as a solo artist. Another source claimed, “It is like all of Liam’s music career that he had built up since he went solo eight years ago was crumbling, there was very little left for him.” They also mentioned that switching from the career-high to his not-so-successful soloist stint “must have absolutely devastated him.”
