Google Flights has added a new feature to help travelers find even cheaper flights. The ‘Cheapest’ tab shows cheapest options that might require more flexibility, like using a different booking site or returning to a different airport. While these options might have trade-offs like longer layovers or self-transfers, they can save you money.

Google Flights is a online tool that simplifies the process of finding and booking flights. It offers a comprehensive search interface that allows users to compare prices, airlines, and flight times across multiple carriers. By providing real-time data and customisable filters, Google Flights helps travelers find the best deals and plan their trips efficiently. Additionally, the platform often highlights flexible options, such as alternative airports or layovers, which can lead to significant savings.

How to use Google Flights for cheapest options

To use this feature, start by entering your trip details as you normally would on Google Flights. Once the results load, you’ll see the regular “Best” tab that balances cost and convenience. However, now you can tap on the new “Cheapest” tab. This section will list all the options with lower prices, even if they’re slightly less convenient.

Google has clarified, “You may find that some of the options under the “Cheapest” tab involve more…creative itineraries, like longer layovers, self-transfers or purchasing different legs of the trip through multiple airlines or booking sites.”

The “Cheapest” tab is available to mobile users of Google Flights. After searching for a flight, you’ll see the ‘best’ options, based on price and convenience. To the right, you’ll find the “Cheapest” tab, which focuses solely on price. Several users have already started using the new feature and posting about it on social media.

Notably, the “Cheapest” tab is currently being rolled out and may not be available to all users globally for up to two weeks.
