A travelling woman recently landed in Pakistan and was surprised with her observation – ‘where are all the women?’
In an Instagram video, the woman named Za (according to her bio) from Borneo in Asia claimed that the ratio is 1:50 everywhere in the city. The clip she shared was shot in Pakistan’s capital city Islamabad and shows a bustling airport with not one female in sight.
“Hello Islamabad. Ratio is 1:50 everywhere we go in this city something we noticed immediately as we landed… where my sisters at?” she wrote in the video’s caption.
The footage also has bits of the woman driving in the streets of Islamabad, which again only had men in sight. Now obviously, viewers of the video had a lot to say and many commented expressing concerns for the visitor’s safety.

“This is sad, a society where women are so controlled that you hardly see them on the streets,” a viewer commented.
“Who tf would go to Pakistan voluntarily,” wrote another. “Leave its not safe,” one viewer advised.
According to Pakistani news outlet Dawn, the country’s population in 2023 was 241.5 million, out of which 123.7 million are estimated to be males and 117.8 million females. Meaning there are 106.8 males every 100 females.
In India, the sex ratio i.e. number of females per 1000 males is 1020, according to 2022 report by the Ministry of Women and Child Development. While India is doing much better in this area, it is a no brainer that women in Pakistan simply choose not to step out as the disparity doesn’t seem that significant.
